A Different Kind of Camp Experience!
Scuba Adventures and Camp Bud Schiele are gearing up for another year of Scuba Camp. Spots are filling up fast for the one week of camp, don’t hesitate. For the past seven years Camp Bud Schiele has hosted Scuba Camp where young boys and girls have spent a week of camp studying and learning skills to become certified PADI Open Water Scuba Divers. For you Boy Scouts, by fulfilling PADI requirements, all Merit Badge requirements are also met.
Under the direction of Scout Leaders, PADI Scuba Instructors ; boys, girls, scouts, and BSA ventures complete all classroom work as well as confined and open water dives needed for this worldwide certification. Housed and fed in one of the Cub World’s Lodges, students participate in a different kind of camp experience.
Camp Bud Schiele
Camp Bud Schiele is located off Hwy 64 between Morganton and Rutherfordton. The camp is operated by the Piedmont Council, BSA. The camp encompasses lodges, cabins, lakes, and activity areas.
The Scuba Program
Campers complete the PADI Open Water Certification. The Program is taught by PADI Instructors from Scuba Adventures. Campers complete dive theory in a classroom setting. During the pool sessions youngster learn and practice basic scuba skills. Followed by Check-out dives to demonstrate mastery of skills in an open water environment. Books, use of Scuba gear, and certification fees are included.
One of the Lodges will be the home for campers for the week. Lodges have two large bunk-rooms, several bathrooms, full kitchen, meeting and dinning facility. And of course a ton of outside facilities for recreation, like a lake.
Meals are prepared and served by our staff three times daily. Cook-outs are scheduled on some of the evenings. A typical breakfast consists of choices of cereals, oat meal, toast, jellies, and fruits. Lunch maybe hot sandwiches or cold cuts with chips, fruits, and a snack. Dinner might look like backed spaghetti, salad, rolls, and a desert.
